About Us

If you would prefer to hear us before you think about booking us, you could take our offer of a free demo CD (see the Contact Us page).

Also, the band recorded a full CD live at a recent function and this is available (at a very reasonable price) from the same place.

Otherwise, you could come to one of our performances (!!) - see the News Page or, once again, contact us for information.

If you wish, we could put you on our mailing list to keep you informed of our various activities - just let us have your e-mail address and we will do the rest.

In July 2013 we appeared at the Watchet Summertime event and a friend of the band kindly filmed a small part of it  - just Google Darktown Strutters Jazz Me Blues

Strutters on the Beeb

In January 2015, the Darktown Strutters website attracted BBC Breakfast television because of the dignified age of its band members. The BBC were running a series on ‘ageing well’ and were interested in West Somerset as it has the highest ratio of older people in the UK. When they saw that Geoff Nicholls, an octogenarian world class trumpet player, composer and arranger, was leading the band, they came to interview him, plus Tony James (bass) and Pete Middleton (clarinet) about their lively jazz playing and all the other things that they do.

They also filmed part of the band’s gig at the Valiant Soldier, Roadwater and broadcast the clips on BBC Breakfast (January 13). The broadcast can now be seen on You Tube - just Google BBC Darktown Strutters.

Now for the Commercial - our CD ‘Out and About’ has now been released (from lack of evidence some say) with a selection of tracks recorded at recent gigs, including such favourites as: Metro Special, Isle of Capri, At the Jazz Band Ball, Boodle-am-shake, and many others (17 tracks in all) available for only £5 plus £2 p&p.
